This Fall season “Tweed Hair” is the newest color trend. It is no longer just a foil, a balayage or babylights. As a hair care professional for over twenty years, I am seeing color techniques take precedence over the actual color!
A form of balayage highlights, tweed hair is a subtle, and earthy trend. According to Chicago-based colorist Rex Jimieson , he is noticing a shift into a more subdued highlighting technique. “A contrast is still present, but not as ‘overachiever’ as seen in recent seasons,” he says. He goes on to describe bases shifting to complement light-blonde strands, and light strands are less light to accommodate a brunette background.
This technique has been around for a long time and we all know it as the weave. I like it because it exposes the natural undertones of the hair, instead of lightening completely. I love the earthy appearance and the fact that it can be less salon maintenance for you the client.
Because this is a beautiful Fall look for just about everyone, now is the time time to update your color. And if you are wanting a slight brightening, this “renewed” technique will do the trick! Contact me today for your next color appointment!
