Looking at this before and after, the blend I did gives balance without a big colour change. By doing minimal highlighting like this, and then toning there is a great blend and no need to break the base. 

 

Since I am currently not at the salon, I am showing some of my previous work. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try to wait for your next salon appointment to colour your hair! Base color may look easy to do however matching is the trick.  If you MUST, do your best to use a lighter colour.  This makes it easier for me to blend.  Which in turn means no corrective colour!
