This guest has very straight hair and older hair color so I do a blunt hair cut and a tweed color. For those who like a balayage look but a bit more color in the root area, this is perfect!
As a hair care professional for over twenty years, I am seeing color techniques take precedence over the actual color! I see bases shifting to complement blonde strands, and light strands are less light to accommodate a brunette background.
A form of balayage highlights, tweed hair is a subtle, and earthy trend. According to Chicago-based colorist Rex Jimieson , he is noticing a shift into a more subdued highlighting technique. “A contrast is still present, but not as ‘overachiever’ as seen in recent seasons,” he says.
This technique has been around for a long time and we all know it as the weave. I like it because it exposes the natural undertones of the hair, instead of lightening completely. I love the earthy appearance and the fact that it can be less salon maintenance for you the client.
