I have definitely been creating a lot of “brondes” over the last few months. This color trend shows warm hues such as caramel/honey/beachy tones with a pop of blonde. A beautiful mix of blonde and brown.
Gone are the days of chunky, blunt, stripey highlights. Now, well-blended lowlights/highlights and more roots are giving the natural beachy lived-in look.
These looks are the perfect low maintenance color to get through the winter season. Depending on your starting color, your transition can be one of several techniques. For example, low lighting, hand painting, reverse balayage or root shadowing. These all give a less manicured look and a more lived-in look.
Bronde is a subtle way of fusing blonde with brown. It can be highlighting or lowlighting that is not balayage nor ombre. It is more about blending the hair and color so it looks more natural. Also, the grow-out is less noticeable.
Soon, these clients will be in my chair ready to lighten and brighten up the blonde. And I am happy to say that a few strategically placed blonde pieces will do the trick. This “look du jour” will remain natural for a while.
Keep in mind that just because “balayage” is the new sexy word, it is not necessarily the best technique to achieve the look you want.
